THE LOGO
We are a public charity. Our primary prupose is to serve the society at large and Tamil society in particular. Our vision is to be the number one ethnic Tamil charity organization in the world. Our logo represents our vision and it is a reminder of our great history.
The logo has four distinct parts:
- The Tamil letter "எ", which is the number 7.
Every Tamil or everyone who knows Tamil history knows The Last Seven Great Philanthropists (கடையெழு வள்ளல்கள்) of the ancient Tamil nation. This is the core of our logo and our vision. They are our inspiration. Though we might not be able to reach their heights we want to strive to do our best to the society.
- A palm leaf.
Palm tree stands as the ancient and current ethnic Tamil national tree, and palm leaves are the source of all ancient Tamil knowledge. For centuries, Tamil language and history were transferred from generation to generation through the writings on palm leaves. They have played a critical role in the development, preservation and promotion of Tamil heritage.
- Two arms holding onto each other in an upright position.
Not just our community's progress, but any community's success depends on the community members holding onto each other at times of difficulties and happiness. More than just holding, we have to constantly pull each other up inorder to be a successful ethnic national people. We want to remind this to everyone and we are here to help build a stronger community.
- AmChaTS
AmChaTS is the acronym for American Charitable Tamil Society.
